Happy new year to all 101 Avn veterans
Posted by John S Maloney on January 1, 2012 @ 9:23pm

I just came across the web site and have thoroughly enjoyed reading the comments, seeing that so many of us are still around. I was Hawk 13 and had the pleasure of serving with some really good people. I was very sorry to hear that Stan Bean had passed away, what a super CWO, who gave me my orientation ride when I arrived at D-101. I still havenot gotten the stains out of my drawers. Ron Reichtsmier set the standard back then! I often remember and say a prayer for Jim Collins and Steve Whisnant who were Killed when returning in bad weather. We had the best Cobra IP ever assigned to our company. He felt responsible for their deaths that in spite of my requests to have him medically grounded to our CO he flew killing himself and his copilot, a new wo assigned to our unit. I got a bad OER for confronting the CO after that probably contributed to me being riffed in 1973. I did what I thought was right and have so much love and respect for those that served and welcome contact from any of us still left. Jsmaloney1@aol.com
Please put 101avn in the subject line.
