THIS SITE IS DEDICATED TO ALL HAWKS WHO SERVED IN VIET NAM
AND OTHER LOCATIONS AROUND THE WORLD FROM 1968 TO PRESENT DAY.
In July of 1968 the following occurred. From the combat proven ranks of the original B/101 Company came the UH-1C gunship platoon call the Black Angels. From the combat proven ranks of the 17th AHC came the UH-1C gunship platoon called the Lancers. From the combat proven ranks of the 188th AHC came the UH-1C gunship platoon called the Spiders. From other combat units came individuals and they along with the gunship platoons transferred into the newely formed UH-1C gunship company called D Company 101st AVN BN, Company D was to be known as the Hawks. The proven and battle tested combat experience of these men made D Company a success in being a UH-1C helicopter gunship company. That same combat experience and professionalism of the pilots, the crew chiefs, door gunners, the ground maintenance crews and all the support personnel again carried the day when D Company transitioned to a AH-1G Cobra helicopter gunship company. Those brave and courageous men continued to take the fight to the enemy and flew into the pages of Army Aviation History. The Hawks have had many changes over the years and their bravery and courage will always be remembered and can serve as an example for the men and women who choose to enter Army Aviation. Please take time to read the D101Hawks Honor Roll on this website.
